Getting Rid of Stuff

Another reminder of my pinterest page. There are now over 8,500 photos/images on there that are not necessarily on here yet. If you wish to view them, I suggest you go there and become a follower as I pin on a regular basis, usually at least a couple of times a week.

We're still working on downsizing our stuff in this house. The other day I gave some solid oak dining chairs to a friend and hubs asked if I really wanted to get rid of them and I said yes very firmly. It seems like he likes all the stuff I've bought over the last 35 years, but there is just too much and at our age; it's time. I don't want to have my kids to have to do it for us if something happened. That's not fair to them and they pretty much don't want anything. They have their own "stuff" and don't need any more. I understand that. Just a few personal things will go to them and the grandkids. I'm just tired of having so much that we can't move things around in this house. My daughter is doing the same thing at her home in California.

Nice weather the past week. Today I asked hubs what the weather was going to be and he immediately pulls out his iPhone. He checks his iPhone for the weather every day. I look out the window and the thermometer on the patio to see what the temperature is. Much easier. He drives me absolutely nuts with the hundreds of apps he has on his iPhone. If I mention something, he has an app for it. Sigh. I may take up drinking and never be sober again!!

It's so pretty today that it looks almost like this around here. Curtains billowing in the breeze, clear skies and a beautiful day.

Everyone loves stone houses and the atmosphere that it brings to a home. This is especially cute, I think.

Isn't this decorative egg exquisite?

Our irrigation canals around here for irrigating our yards aren't this pretty, but they can come close in some areas around houses here for being shady. But I love the flowers and bridge in the background.

A quaint little guest bedroom in the French style.

A rather plain little living room but it's kind of cute with the French feel.

I like the pink in this room but it looks almost like a setting in a furniture store the way it's set up.

This room certainly asserts itself. Fabulous.

I've always loved rooms like this: huge windows, settee, ruffled tablecloth, pretty curtains on a window and a chandelier.

This is absolutely adorable. Black and white with touches of red and pink. I could live in this porch or sunroom easily. Darling!

Just a sweet dining area in a kitchen done extremely well.

This room belongs in a warm climate with its monochromatic color. Very pretty.

A fancy entry way. Two different chairs done in the same fabric to pull them together.

A cozy pink, white and gold sitting room.

What a relaxing room to dream in. French doors to the patio and a chaise lounge to sit and read. Great room!

Hubs and His Vegetable Garden

My hubs was the best catch of the day when we met 51+ years ago. It's been quite a journey for us, probably more trying for him than me. Hah! He would never say that but it gets a bit crazy living with a compulsive person. Me, not him. He's quite easy going. I like everything organized just so in my house. He doesn't care what I do except I'd better not touch his train room. I rarely ever go out there.

But his garden is his pride and joy, both the flowers and the vegetables. He can grow tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers like crazy and therein lies the tale.

I don't can anymore. I hate it. It's too hard and time consuming and isn't worth it for two people. I can buy it cheaper at the stores without all the work. I got rid of my canners and jars about 5 years ago and haven't looked back. I did keep my dryer because we like to keep our granddaughter and great granddaughter in dried fruit. Plus it's not hard to do it.

But we can't eat the tomatoes and cukes fast enough around here. They just keep multiplying like crazy. I'll make a cuke and tomato salad, or just slice them and put them on a plate to eat. Or he'll make tomato sandwiches or we'll have them in a salad. OR we'll give bags of them to the neighbors. I'm sick of cucumbers and tomatoes. But he'll bring in a bag full and put them in the fridge. They will "disappear" every day or two until they're gone. He doesn't even seem to notice, which is good. I'll just leave them on the counter for a day or two, then put them in the fridge for a day or two while taking several out and throwing them in the garbage. It's gotten so no one wants any more vegetables from us! But the truly funny thing is that he doesn't notice at all. ;-) I think I have some rotting in there as I'm typing this post. They'll be gone tomorrow! ;-)

I think this is a very pretty room. Nicely arranged and pretty colors.

While this is a lovely room, that side table is what caught my eye before that gorgeous bay window. Lovely and elegant while romantic and liveable.

Another bedspread from the same place I bought my ruffled quilt. It's gorgeous also.

Just some pretty embroidered pillows and a decorated box.

This wallpaper reminds me of the 1990s and the plates on the wall also but still gorgeous.

I'm sure this is something Rachel Ashwell came up with but isn't it adorable and wouldn't it be fun to have in a bedroom?

Some happy hats to make you smile. :-)

A bold color on an old French building. Love the color!

What an outdoor room! Frankly, I don't see how people keep white so clean though. In our desert, they'd look filthy all the time. Winds blowing the sand and dirt from nearby farm fields would destroy them within a couple of years at the most.

Truly eye candy. ;-) Gorgeous.

Another beautiful bottle.

A sweet card.

An adorable kitchen but I love the bright red touches. Could that be red chalk paint?

This wouldn't have to be for a wedding but could be for a fancy luncheon for friends.

Aaaaahhh, the luxury of windows to the world such as these. Beautiful.

Don't You Just Love Doctor Appointments?

A few months ago, I had an issue with my left leg—I think this is left over from a fall I took over 2 years ago at a nearby lake. I've had a shooting pain from the top of my leg to my knee at times. But it was annoying so I set up an appointment with a spine institute in Boise and went in for an initial appointment and an MRI.

Now, I am meticulous at keeping appointments and hubs even puts them in his iPhone for me and I put them on the calendar with the appointment card from the doctor's office. The first visit I waited for a very long time in the waiting room and then the "receptionist with an attiTUDE" told me they were backed up that day and could I come back another time. I was very nice and said I could and set up the appointment. Then I had to have the "other" surgery. I thought I could make it to the appointment to get the results of the MRI, but I phoned in and scheduled another time because I was still loopy on the pain killers. A guy changed it for me. Then he called a couple of weeks later and rescheduled because my doctor was going on vacation. That was not a problem for me at all. Then I go in and the "receptionist with an attiTUDE" for the appointment (third time) said I wasn't scheduled for an appointment that day. I said I had the appointment scheduled with a guy and could she check further. The "receptionist with an attiTUDE" insisted she was right. I could barely contain my anger at her. I almost asked her if I could speak to her privately so I didn't tear her apart in the crowded waiting room. But I contained my anger and scheduled another appointment. I went and it was fine, but I told th' hubs if they screwed this one up I wasn't going back. How can an office run on such inefficiency, plus have a "receptionist with attiTUDE"? I'm not known for patience most of the time but I am a nice person, just don't push that envelope too far. ;-) Spine? All I needed was a shot of cortizone in a certain area and that should take care of it. I told her I'd think about it as it wasn't particularly bad that day at all. But truly, I just want to visit with the "receptionist with attiTUDE" one. more. time. ;-)

Then I went to my general surgeon for a minor thing and love them at that office. They love me so much they said, "Would you like a job here?" I said, "You couldn't afford me." I make them laugh so much and uplift them to the point they want me to stay. But, hey, I really don't want to work. I love being home and having my time to myself.

What a delightful red kitchen. It is in another country though.

Lovin' these purple blooms.

Another thatched cottage, very unusual shape though. I had a lot of fun in Ireland staying in a thatched bed and breakfast.

Cupcake anyone? :-)

This is one of the most beautiful blue bedrooms I've ever seen. Just gorgeous.

A lovely setting for a romantic dinner.

A cute display of small suitcases, a birdhouse and pretty wallpaper.

Now, this is a tent for camping! It has 3 rooms. I'd go camping in this in a heart beat. Mattresses and everything.

Aaaaawww, a little pumpkin carriage lamp. How sweet.

A beautifully wrapped gift of a pink scarf with french written all over it.

Romantic outing by a river, done right.

Just a beautiful pink, white and green flower.

Okay, here's one of my favorite pink and white striped rooms with my favorite Apple MacBook. How could I resist this one? Hahaha.

Isn't this gorgeous?

Hat boxes come in all sorts of pretty colors. I just happen to like these pink striped ones.
